Electronic Prescription Service is being introduced in Wales from November 2024 which is making changes to the way prescriptions are issued in Wales. This easy and secure service will let your GP send your prescription electronically to your chosen pharmacy without the need for a paper form. Digital prescriptions are easier, safer, more convenient and better for the environment too.
This will help us to work towards a paper free NHS, patients will no longer have to visit a GP practise just to collect a paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to your chosen pharmacy initially via the Avicenna Chain in Caldicot, Magor and Portskewett. GP's and other prescribers will sign prescriptions digitally, and pharmacies and dispensers will be able to reduce the use of paper.
